Very little got done. I watched the Jobs movie with my sons; much to my surprise it didn’t suck. The reviews had been so harsh, I was fully expecting a total suckfest and only begrudgingly agreed to go because Micah had been looking forward to seeing the movie ever since he heard about it being made. The kid thoroughly idolizes Steve Jobs. Go figure. I didn’t care too much for Ashton Kutcher’s over-the-top “Steve Jobs the hunchback” walk, but other than that, I thought he was actually pretty decent.
I also caught Tom Cruise in Oblivion. I felt really bad about this movie. It had good casting, it had a great backstory. It should’ve totally rocked. But I was let down by the sets and the cinematography and the choice of white white white gleaming white everywhere. This should have been a gritty, dark movie all-around. Only the subterranean scenes were like that, and there were pitifully few of them. After seeing the movie I read up on the director and discovered he also did the recent Tron film, which unfortunately explains a lot. It wasn’t as big a letdown as Prometheus, but pretty close.
