Personal aesthetics
(the right poem for the wrong reason)

I built a hooker a website. She called it (she wanted to call it) Luminous Word. I said that was silly. Why would anyone want to call a website Luminous Word? She said because of the scarecrows (the owls). I asked her was she talking about Oz? She wasn’t. There were literally (literally?) scarecrows around her—at least that’s what she said when she closed her eyes and wanted them to be. She “conjured them up.” I said that I couldn’t see anything, at least not at that time. But I did have an idea of scarecrows, from many years of reading. I said, we’ll get to the bottom of this. But I was lying, I just wanted to see her bottom. So I built her a website, I finished it. I said, thank you, may I have another? She shut the door and gave me something else to see by.
